Passed 70-767, 4th Microsoft Exam and MCSE Title

This particular exam is 70-767 SQL Server Data Warehousing.

This has been given the longest time for preparation and yet a sub 800 points was given to me. There has been a lot of terms that was unfamiliar especially under the Microsoft Azure zone.

For preparation:

  1. I bought the official reference book for the exam at Microsoft press store. I read the book at least 3 times. Also you need to read URL links that are referenced in the book. My rule when opening URL links is to read at least 2 levels, which means when there is another URL in the website, that gets opened and read as well.
  2. If you feel you need to find other articles on the web to get a complete grasp of a topic, please do.
  3. You need to practice on hand. It has a lot of benefits, one is you get to put syntaxes into your long term memory.

Once the exam day arrives, stay relax until the exam finishes. I told my self before hitting the End Exam button that whatever the score I’ll get, I’ll be fine with it. I just need to review and retake if needed.

Promoted to MCSA! Passed 70-762 Microsoft Certification Exam

When studying for this particular exam, a lot of built in SQL Objects like views and functions are mentioned throughout the reference book.

The supposed to be easiest preparation turned out to be most stressful since I had to memorize a lot of those objects.

For passing this exam. I bought an e-book by Microsoft. This is the official exam reference book for this exam by Louis Davidson and Stacia Varga. I have read the book 3 times and I practice on-hand when in the mood.

Also I needed to read from these following urls:

My preparation lasted for 7 months. On average I dedicated about 2.5 hours a day everyday reading and practicing! It was a stressful 7 months, I had a lot of momentary pain in the head as if my skull is trying to compress. Saturdays/Sundays and holidays were dedicated to preparation. I still had the time to enjoy beer and get wasted.

This was also one out of the two exams you need to pass to attain MCSA. I finally am an MCSA. Thanks for Intelligent Touch Corporation, my employer who paid for this exam. Thanks for the continued patronage.

Posted below is the new badges I acquired. Also below I posted my score.

Passed another Microsoft Exam! 70-761 Querying with Transact-SQL.

This exam was way too convenient compared to the other microsoft exam I took at a test center in Manila. This time it was an online proctored exam.

When I initiated the exam the proctor (from pearson) called me via VOIP and he sounded Indian. There was some SOP and everything he asked was easy to do.

The exam comprises of 48 questions and I got a score of 888 over 1000. The passing score is 700.

This is the tally per sql topic.

My company paid for the exam. I am happy I passed it.

I read the microsoft exam tutorial book by Itzik Ben Gan. I read it twice and I practiced on hand when in mood. I bought it as an ebook at microsoftpressstore.com.

Microsoft exam passed at first attempt. 70-483 Programming in C#

I made sure internet connection is not a problem. I had to set the venue at a test center in Manila. I only had 2 hours of sleep and I was inside the bus on or before 3AM. 9AM is the exam time and I was already at the vicinity 2 hours before. I looked for a place where I can eat, sit and empty my mind.

The test comprises of 50 questions with a passing score of 700. My score is 774. If you are weak at application debugging and applying security then you need to get high scores at program flow, create and use types and etc. That is the same case as mine.

When taking the exam push yourself but take your time. Read thoroughly.

Here is how I prepared.

  1. Read MCSD Certification toolkit Exam 70-483 Programming in C# – WROX (at least 3x)
  2. Read Programming in C# 70-483 Microsoft Publication (at least 2x)
  3. Measure-up official practice exam – downloadable with 30 day free online test. Make sure you are getting 90% something percentile consistently.
  4. MSDN
  5. When in the mood practice on hand.

Just took the “C# Test” under test category “.NET Technologies”. It says in the test topics that it will cover items in Microsoft 70-483 Exam as well. Some questions made me look unprepared. But I still managed to pass it.

This reaffirms the need to read preparatory books for 70-483 other than Wiley’s.

Score : 3.25 out of 5 – Above Average

70-483 Certification and practice what you have learned.

I am very close to taking 70-483 Microsoft certification. But before taking this 1 hour plus exam I’d like to put what I have learned to practice. I have read one book from Wiley’s for the second time. Planning to read it for the third time. Microsoft publications also has a book for it and I will try to read it as well.

I will be trying to optimize a class library project. That project was meant for pushing XML to a database table(s) in SQL Server. This is a class library owned by my employer. The class library is being injected daily by a windows service. We built a windows forms project to access the class library from a GUI. The XML can be as heavy as 4MB so that’s a lot of instances to insert.

Everything to be practiced is only limited to C# therefore I will try to do

a. profiling and custom text listeners. These are included in the exam.

b. and others I can think of

The goal is to make the class library quicker so readers should expect a before and after comparison chart in the end. I am a new blogger. I will try to make things informative. I hope to be criticized.
