Do not be too guilty about spending some money. Do not stop trying and changing your methods until you reach your goal. Continue on widening your skillset.
I had about 4 or 5 tries starting with germinating seeds. I had a lot of issues growing seedlings.
In the end, I had to set up my own greenhouse. Also, I still have a lot to improve.
